A look back at railroading in 2011 put to music from various artists.

Nice to see a bunch of new cars being placed into service before they become tagged. The new taconite cars look sharp too!

Yesterday the same BNSF power ran to Freeman's (right under the Blatnik Bridge) to pick up grain empties out of CHS. They must have ran down the Corridor first, past Fraser, and onto the cut of grain hoppers.
Here they are pulling back towards 28th St. with the rebuilt GP30 leading.

With the sun finally making an appearance this week, I was able to catch a few switch jobs around Duluth/Superior.
First up is CP's 3-Superior job working Azcon after coming over from Stinson.

I don't need to say any more.

These tunnel motor form a set of "Heritage Fleet" units of sorts in former owners colors and find common ground at Proctor MN on a nice April afternoon.

The SCXY received the "new" loco a few weeks ago. It's a EMD GP10 (former BN 1418)and will be used as extra power for the SCXY.
The sand loading operation will be using a trackmobile to start off with partially due to the fact ILS currently has no switch engines available. They are going the trackmobile route to start as it will have remote control and should easily handle 5 loads at a time but are open to a switcher in the future if need be.

Really nice pictures, Dave. I miss my old girls. I also missed working that end of the railroad so I'll have to share some from the west end. Here's my two cents to add to this Friday's Flashback. Since Dave likes the GP over the F's here is a bunch of them (although not the 15/16).

A 7am pellet train departing the plantsite at MP2. 4210, 4207, 4201, 4204 & 4202 are the power for 120 loads headed for Taconite Harbor.

I'll take the F's as orginally planned - ABBA.

A 7am pellet train with an ABBA set departing at MP1. 4210, 4220, 4224 & 4211 lead 96 loads.

Piggybacking on Dave and Kevin's photos I uploaded some Missabe stuff post CN merger but before the great maroon retirement.
DMIR 203 pulling up from Missabe Jct.

DMIR 403 downhill on Proctor Hill with taconite loads.
