A Couple of Soo Shots

A couple of Soo shots to share from Superior. Here is the old Soo depot at the corner of Odgen and Winter St. after the rains finally quit last week.

The CP suffered four washouts on their line through Superior between 28th St. and Belknap. The road is still closed across the CP at Superior High School, but the railroad is back and running. Here the transfer returns from Duluth to Superior's Stinson Yard, a common sight on Friday nights.

Engineer Lohrbach returns to Stinson Yard in Superior on a warm Friday evening behind the Soo 4434 and CP 4617 on Jun29, 2012. This 57 car transfer from Duluth is passing over the biggest of the four washouts that CP suffered in the Twin Ports flood of last week, on their former Soo route north of Stinson. This is at 21st Street, at the site of the former yard and roundhouse just east of the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus, which like many places in the area suffered significant flood damage. CP got the line back in service on Saturday (I think) and before that they ran detours via M&J Jct. to serve Duluth and interchange with the BNSF while repairs were made.
