Derailment Update

dmir227's picture

A quick drive up to the derailment site this morning in light rain showed CN might have dodged a bullet. It appears that 8-10 cars (not 30) at the rear of the loaded Minorca train derailed and slid onto their sides, but fortunately away from the siding. Section crews were working on fixing the siding switch so trains could run around the derailment so I don't anticipate the IR Sub being down too long. They were very lucky that the derailed car was near the end of the train and that the worst part happened south of the siding switch.
