North Branch Sand

The SCXY received the "new" loco a few weeks ago. It's a EMD GP10 (former BN 1418)and will be used as extra power for the SCXY.
The sand loading operation will be using a trackmobile to start off with partially due to the fact ILS currently has no switch engines available. They are going the trackmobile route to start as it will have remote control and should easily handle 5 loads at a time but are open to a switcher in the future if need be.

Today was training day at the new facility with workers of the plant getting familiar and up close with rail cars etc. The North Branch Fire Dept. will also be involved with a few training excercises of their own.

They will begin conducting test runs of production the end of this week, fine tuning equipment and such. It is very amazing how much engineering is involved in this somewhat simple process. They are anticipating full railcar production loading to begin in the 2nd or 3rd week of May if all goes well and all bugs are worked out.
