Two Trains at Two Harbors

Had a chance to get out for a few hours during yesterday's late morning. I heard some scratchy transmissions that sounded like the MRF was going to follow a southbound train out of Wales/Highland. Sounded like the RTC was talking the CN 2123, the standard cab C40-8 that CN has been using out of Proctor this month. This engine has been on my list to shoot.

Headed for Two Harbors and then north of town. Once there I finally figured out that the 404 was leading the 2123 down the Iron Range Sub. The morning clouds were starting to completely clear for about an hour, but the ore train took longer than expected as they stopped just north of here MP 3.5 to charge up the air. By this time clouds were coming back from the north and east, but the sun held at Waldo Road.

The 2123 South also slowly came down the hill. Clouds were really starting to thicken back up, but the third try on this train was the charm and I got this MRF on the old southbound in sun. Those C40-8s in CN paint are just like their tunnel motors. The red nose looks nice and clean and the black side is filthy covered in dust and sand. Nice break from the SD75s and Dash 9s though.
