Switchers

Knowing my luck with RailPictures, I decided to start uploading train pics to FlickR as well. Over the past few years I've occasionally concentrated on following switch jobs around the Twin Ports.

Back on March 26th 2008 I caught the West Duluth Paper Mill Job working as far West as they go in Duluth out to the Tate & Lyle Plant in Riverside. This job usually has a caboose with it for the shove back to Mike's Yard.

On April 14 2008 I managed a grab shot of the Old Town Transfer nearing Bardon Ave in Superior.

BNSF 3644

On June 1st 2008 I again caught up with the Paper Mill Switch in West Duluth. They were just finishing pulling cars from the mill when I got there.

BNSF 3701

The sun was less than co-operative but I stuck with them on there trip to Riverside. There the sun came out again.

On August 24th 2008 I followed one of the Connors Point Jobs. I first caught them by the shipyards, I thought about parking on the highway to get a shot with shipyard as a background but safer thoughts prevailed.

BNSF 3644

A quick trip down the road yielded this shot by the Lime Plant, spilled grain between the rails was really starting to grow by then.

BNSF 3644

Spotting cars for Peavey.

BNSF 3644

And a final shot for the chase of the train coming past Charter Films on its way back to the yard.

BNSF 3644

A few of these shots some of you may have seen before, but at least they are a reminder of warmer weather.
