Kelly Lake Local

I heard the "Kelly Lake Local" call the BNSF DS as they were eastbound through Cloquet. When in Superior they took their two units to the house and tied up. The local is normally assigned to Kelly Lake proper and works various Range customers, but with the mines either closed or at greatly reduced levels, the local had been annulled as a normal job. I was surprised to see it operating out of Superior. With so little work its "as-needed" status must mean they can run it out of Superior and handle all the work needed, possibly with rest on the Range if needed (BN had some interesting union deal with the International Falls local where the crew would take it up in the morning, sleep or "rest" during the day, and take it back at night).
